Our Approach
We work with partners around the world on cutting-edge research to promote and inform mind-body interventions for trauma-exposed individuals and communities.
Specifically, we conduct and contribute to research on trauma-informed yoga, mental health education, and trauma-informed facilitation. We use these findings to support and enhance our existing programming, as well as to create new, evidence-informed interventions.
Research Projects
Feet on the Ground methodology
We are conducting research on our Ten-Week Series as a complementary program for post-traumatic growth and healing.
In 2018, we began a comprehensive research study on the Feet on the Ground methodology. The study looks at the real-life experiences of participants in the Feet on the Ground Ten-Week Series, and is being conducted in five phases. Initial phases of the study have uncovered promising findings; these will be further explored in future phases of the initiative.

The Field Guide for Barefoot Psychology
In 2019, we worked with the international non-profit organization, Beyond Conflict, on a research study to evaluate the effectiveness of the Field Guide for Barefoot Psychology in reducing symptoms of post-traumatic stress.
Developed by Beyond Conflict, the Field Guide for Barefoot Psychology is a psychosocial support tool and educational resource for forcibly displaced people and those working with them. Feet on the Ground is proud to have supported both curriculum development and facilitation of the first pilot project for the Field Guide. In April 2019, researchers conducted a randomized controlled pilot on the Field Guide to assess its effectiveness in reducing post-traumatic stress symptomatology, with encouraging preliminary results.
